Hanfa Board meeting: Electrocoin d.o.o. becomes the first company to obtain Hanfa’s authorisation to operate in accordance with MiCA
At its meeting today, the Board of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (Hanfa) adopted a decision granting authorisation to Electrocoin d.o.o. from Zagreb to operate as a crypto‑asset service provider (CASP) in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 on markets in crypto‑assets (MiCA) and the Act implementing that Regulation.
Pursuant to the authorisation, Electrocoin d.o.o. is permitted to provide the following crypto‑asset services: exchange of crypto‑assets for funds, exchange of crypto‑assets for other crypto‑assets, and the custody and administration of crypto‑assets on behalf of clients.
Electrocoin d.o.o. is the first entity to receive the so-called crypto licence from Hanfa. It will also be the first company to be entered in Hanfa’s Register of Entities Authorised to Provide Crypto-Asset Services under MiCA, becoming subject to Hanfa’s oversight with respect to all its activities related to the provision of crypto‑asset services.
Prior to obtaining the crypto licence, Electrocoin d.o.o. operated in the Republic of Croatia as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) in accordance with the Anti‑Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Act. Pursuant to the Act Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 on Markets in Crypto-Assets, such companies are required to obtain a crypto licence from Hanfa by 1 July 2026 at the latest in order to continue providing their services after that date.
